LOTS TO CATCH UP ON

Lots going on. Now that Election is finally over we can take a breather here. I've been hired to do a script rewrite, so yay! Work on the graphic novel continues a bit slowly but steadily. I've started a new little gig judging a screenplay compeition.

Work has been picking up. I accepted a contract to rewrite and polish a pre-existing movie script for a martial arts/action movie that has good funding possibilities. I may also fly up to Canada to work on TV series project at the end of October. Freelance work has been picking up, as well. Looks like I'll easily have enough money to last me through February at least.

Art work for my upcoming graphic novel has been coming in a bit slow. Well, probably not slow considering the circumstances. It just feels a little slow. My hope is that once the character design is finished, pages start getting pumped out.

Still playing WoW. Blood Elf mage now level 30. Having fun with the zombie event in preperation for the Wrath release.

I also early voted, so for me, this election is over.

Good times.

Of Artists and Blood Elves

Sister and family are gone now. Artist has begun turning in preliminary concept sketches for my upcoming comic, we've been going back and forth all day. Very exciting! I don't really feel motivated to do any work at the moment. I might just play WoW for awhile. I started a Blood Elf mage. Nothing 70th level seems interesting to me and unfortunately I never developed community ties that really make the game fun.

My wife and I will be going out salsa dancing tonight. We're finally fulfilling a long time gream to dance together as a couple. Wish it was happening at a time when I'm less pre-occupied with career among other things, but career stuff doesn't seem like it will end anytime soon so we might as well live more in the now.

Writing and World of Warcraft

Good news today. My publisher has assigned me an artist for my first comic book/graphic novel. Last month, I signed a deal for one of my movie scripts to be converted into a comic and after a little bit of a bumpy start things seem to be moving.

Haven't had much time to goof around in World of Warcraft. All I could do was re-spec my Rogue and run outside Shattrath to kill a few things. I show good DPS now, but I'm very concerned about mobility in PvP. Naturally, I have the sucker spec...all the Rogues in game are gushing over Sublety spec, so naturally that means I end up picking the spec noone uses.

New Patch - World of Warcraft

Today is World of Warcraft's crazy new patch which basically rewrites the rules for every class. Should be interesting.

The 5 Most Dangerous Home Tools

Popular Mechanics has an interesting article about this topic. The SawStop demonstration video looks very impressive.
Escape From New York

I'm watching "Escape from New York" starring Kurt Russell on my second monitor as I do work. I have to admit the protagonist has one of the most awesome names ever given an action hero...Snake Plissken.
Mondays have weird vibes

Mondays always feel different regardless of whether you freelance or work in a business office. You wake up in the morning and you're hit with this "Another week in the life of..." type of feeling. Monday mornings have many very subtle "take stock of your life" moments...moments containing that little unease in the back of your mind and heart that slowly disappears when you get to Tuesday and you finally get back into the groove of your work pattern.

I haven't written any authentically new stories in about a year and a half. My focus has been on either marketing or rewriting stories already written or I've worked on other people's stories.

Feels like the pendulum is swinging back again, as yesteroday I wrote a 5 page beginning to a story idea that's been simmering for a few years at least. Even after years of doing this, the idea of filling 90-120 pages chock full of world and detail still feels like an enormous task.

Sister and family are still here, but going out and doing things on their own.
